It is the Mission of the Absentee Shawnee Training Institute to support the expression of the inherent sovereignty of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma through support and provision of resources to assist with tribal environmental protection, cultural enrichment, community eduction and tribal technical capacity development. These areas of concern being recognized as basic needs integral to the betterment of the health and welfare of the Shawnee people.
The primary goal of ASTI is to support it's mission through the sharing and provision of educational and training services and opportunities with the tribe, neighboring non-tribal communities, fellow tribal governments and tribal organizations on a cost recovery basis as a means of generating the resources and technical capacity needed within the tribal community.
